Badian Canyoneering: Adventures in the Philippines

Badian Canyoneering is an adrenaline-pumping adventure that shouldn’t be missed when visiting the Philippines, especially if you are looking for something that is physical and will get your blood pumping for sure! The canyoneering is about 3-5 hours away from Cebu city, and a van picked us up from our accommodation, sent from the Badian site themselves! So don’t worry about getting there, just sit back, and make sure you have all the things you need for your adventure.

I would recommend wearing a rashguard, or a long sleeve swimsuit instead of one where your arms are open and exposed. Make sure to bring water to leave at the main site, you will be very tired after your experience, and will definitely need a refreshment!

It takes about 45 minutes to walk to the waterfalls, but there’s also a zipline with amazing views that you can take for a quicker trip. Even though I was reluctant to go with the high zipline, the experience of being on it was fulfilling. The views while you are up in the air of the scenery, and just the feeling of the cool breeze on a hot day was really just ethereal. The zipline was an adventure of its own.

One of the most exciting parts of Badian Canyoneering is the jumps into the waterfall. You have to jump from heights ranging from 3-5 meters. I was quite terrified before my first jump, but after doing it once, I felt more confident that I could do the jump. It wasn’t as nerve-racking as it was before!

The water below was refreshing and cold, with fantastic views of the natural scenery around you, as well as crystal clear water as the oceans in the Philippines are. I just wanted to stay in the water and just swim around the calm bay, which we could do at the end!

More bonuses, we went to slide down a mini-slide, but the catch was… We went head-first, going backwards into the water! Honestly, I didn’t think I could do it, but wow! It really was fun, almost as fun as the zipline and the jumping.

We scale the area  around the waterfalls, almost like climbers, except we didn’t climb anything, and walked up stones and little pieces of grass. The guides that came along with us were extremely helpful in making sure we didn’t slip on the rocks. Once, we even dived in and swam in the waterfalls for a short time. We walked along the bottom of the waterfall, and then dove into the water, a head-first dive!

Another exciting activity at Badian Canyoneering is the Tarzan rope, where you swing on the rope and then jump into the water. It’s once again hard when you are at the base of the jump, but an experience that you will definitely want to repeat. You can do many tricks, from backflips to belly flops, there are unlimited possibilities of what you could do.

Overall, Badian Canyoneering is an unforgettable adventure that combines excitement with natural beauty. Whether you’re overcoming fears or enjoying stunning views, it’s an experience that’s well worth it for anyone looking for a thrilling Philippines adventure in a beautiful natural enviroment.
